But I'm not tired

Both Rachel and Sam refused to take naps this afternoon. Sam was able to last all day in a fairly good mood, but he played inside all day. Rachel, on the other hand, spent two and a half hours in the pool this afternoon. She had to be bushed but she refused to stay in the Pack'n'Play so she didn't take a nap, at least, not when I put her down for one.

I found her on the couch sound asleep about an hour and a half after we got home.

Sam and Jacob were playing nicely together and all the girls were busy with homework and reading so I took the opportunity to have a little nap myself.

Not to brag or anything, but after I woke up it took me a half hour to make dinner, help Rachel go to the bathroom twice, clean up a big mess she made by getting off the toilet herself after a BM, change her clothes after she partially wet her pants, and get her a post-nap snack. It was probably the most productive half hour of my whole day!

  1. Hi Nancy! You have no idea who I am, but I've been reading your blog long enough that I feel like we're friends. Crazy huh! Anyway, you're a great mom, a captivating writer, and I enjoy your blog.

  2. Ah, yes. The "I'm not tired" spiel. We have that often and then within the hour, we have kids zonked out on couches and underneath covers on the master bed. Funny how that happens, yes?

  3. I must be a mommy too... Last week Karen refused to nap then fell asleep on the couch; my girls LOVE Sandra Boynton's books (especially Snuggle Puppy and Pajama Time, though But Not the Hippopotamus is fun too), and just over a week ago Karen broke almost all of her crayons into little tiny pieces... However I'm not pregnant and I don't have to worry about dying from brushing my teeth with tap water ;) but there is Swine flu in my state and they haven't yet ordered the slaughter of all our pigs... I think we're at a big risk because of that! ;)
