Forced Perspective Photo Shoot

Today on Facebook a memory from five years ago popped up, a memory that I apparently didn't ever get around to blogging about. It must have been near the beginning of the school year, still at the beginning of the pandemic, and we did a little photo shoot playing with forced perspective.

Here's Zoë holding up Benjamin and Miriam:

Miriam stepping on the other two:

Zoë eating Benjamin:

We must have done it much earlier in the day because by the time we went outside this afternoon the cul-de-sac was quite sunny and the kids were complaining it was hot (it's not—it's only like 80°F). But we did get a few pictures in, helping them to understand that things that look small from far away are really quite large (for example, the moon).

So here are our pictures from 2025...

Here's Phoebe holding Alexander and Zoë (Phoebe is actually really excited about this—she saw the pictures on Facebook and wanted to do it, too...she's just not great with faces sometimes...and is already known to retort, "I'm not upset! This is just my face!":

Updated to add: I found a smiling picture!

And here's Zoë holding Alexander and Phoebe:

Alexander was more interested in eating people:

Finally, here's Zoë stomping on her siblings:

And Alexander giving it a go:

Perhaps we'll try it again on a cooler morning. Today it was fun to see how much my little ones have grown (and spread their wings—Miriam and Benjamin aren't even here).
