Thompson trick....With your potato plants try a Bro. Thompson trick. That is as the plant starts to grow keep putting straw around the base of the plant until you have about a three foot pile. The plant will stay ahead of the straw as you pile it around and the potatoes will develop in the straw as the plant grows.
