1 month, 1 week, and 1 day

That's how long until I graduate from BYU and lose all sense of structure. Right now I have a job (several of them), go to classes, and basically have a plan for my life. In one month, one week, and one day I lose all of that. Scary day!

For the past several months I've tried to disregard that painful feeling of fear, laughing about it when people asked about it.

"Hey Andrew, what're you doing after graduation?"

"Oh, I don't know, I'll go to grad school or find a job or something. Maybe I'll live in a cardboard box. That could be fun."

That response worked like back in October, or even in December, but now that it's March, people would look at me like I was absolutely crazy. I was.

But now I finally have a different, real response!

"Hey Andrew, what're you doing after graduation?"

"Oh, I'll be moving to Egypt to attend the American University of Cairo for a two year masters degree program in Arabic Studies with specialization in Middle Eastern History. Hopefully they'll pay me money. Maybe we'll live in a cardboard box or something over there. Maybe even in the City of the Dead."

Yep. I've been accepted. We're going!

  5. Wow, you didn't even have to wait until April 1! Like that would be believable anyways, on April Fool's Day! So this is so much better, knowing on just an ordinary day in March.

Sad to see our neighborhoodliness coming to an end though. CONGRATS again! You guys have been to Egypt before, haven't you?

  12. Thanks everyone! :)

Let's see if I can answer everyone in one comment, shall we?

We'll probably be leaving sometime in July or August. Crazy!

We have visited Egypt before, for about 10 days, back in 2006.

And we now have a plan for the next two years, so our life is pretty much okay for the next 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day--and for two years after that...and then, who knows...

    Thanks again, everyone!

(Bridget, I'll be asking you more questions than you could probably ever imagine in the near future, just to prepare you).

...er, I mean Congratulations on graduating! And Congrats on Egypt!
There are rampant puns going through my head about you living in the city of the dead, but as they're all quite cheesy, I'll spare you.
    Congrats again!
