Clearly, it wasn't going productively and things got silly and ultimately a book got thrown out her second floor window and into the gutter and we dissolved into fits of laughter, a more universal language. Dad had to get a ladder to retrieve the book. Once she was finally in bed, he told me "There are going to be times when your children make you want to laugh so hard, but you can't." I suppose there will be times I will absolutely have to be serious no matter what, but I hope to have lots of laughter in my home too.
