We were so excited when we saw her on the list of performers on UGA's docket for this semester. I marked the first day of ticket sales on the calendar and Miriam and I were both poised and ready to buy the minute the portal opened.
But somehow the show was completely sold out—like, immediately.
It was rather disappointing.
But life moves on.
We planned instead for Miriam to head out to Utah with Grandpa, intending for her to hang out with Rachel until the semester was over (Rachel comes home on Thursday)...
But then I was talking with someone on campus about Miriam and Anna Lapwood and they were like, "Seriously—her show is sold out? She can't be that famous!! You should check again."
First of all, Anna Lapwood is that famous.
But, second of all, there's no harm in trying, right?
So I went to the website and it had a banner announcing that student-only tickets were available now. One ticket per student number. For free!
I quickly snagged one of those, got the confirmation email and everything, and then I emailed a few friends to see if they would try to get a ticket (that way Andrew or I could go with Miriam) but by the time my friends tried (and they tried pretty immediately because they all adore Miriam) all the student tickets were gone.
What a bummer.
Still—we had one ticket to Anna Lapwood!
We bought Miriam a plane ticket home from Utah for Saturday night (last night) instead of Thursday night (when Rachel is coming home) and...well...she got to go see Anna Lapwood in concert!
Andrew drove into Athens with her and was fortunate enough to get one of the few standby tickets left, so he got to watch the concert as well (even though they didn't get to sit with each other).
They're on their way home now. But apparently it was incredible. Miriam got to very briefly "meet" Anna Lapwood after the concert (I'm not quite sure what that means) and apparently she also go waved at. So...pretty awesome.
She has been wanting to attend an Anna Lapwood concert for so long!
All she wanted for Christmas last year was Anna Lapwood "Play Like A Girl" stuff but...when we tried ordering they wouldn't ship to the US...so when Miriam went to the UK with Grandpa and Darla last summer they had to make a stop somewhere so she could get some Anna Lapwood merch!
I'm so glad Miriam was able to make it to this concert! What a thrill!
