Silly scripture study

We have this game called "Flushin' Frenzy" that my sister Kelline sent to us a few years ago—right in the middle of COVID lockdowns. She thought we'd get a kick out of it. And we did.

The kids still like to play it. Rachel has catlike reflexes when it comes to grabbing that plastic poop in midair. No one can ever beat her.

Today was a bit of a hard day. After being sick through most of June, Phoebe and Alexander are once again quite sick. This evening Phoebe threw up in the bathroom from coughing too hard. And then she took one look at her throw up and threw up again because she really can't stand the thought of poop or throw up or anything like that...unless, of course, it's this game.

And then poop is fine.

She loves to play with the poop and the toilet. It's pretty much always just...out...for Phoebe to play with.

So there she was during scripture study, playing with this poop and toilet. She put the (toy) poop in her mouth and began chewing on it quite violently. 

"Phoebe, don't chew on the poop," Andrew chided her.

"You should talk!" she said, dropping the (toy) poop out of her mouth. "You ate your own poop when you were a baby!"

That disarmed Andrew pretty quickly. (Everyone started to laugh).

Fun fact—Andrew had to spend time in the NICU as a big 'ol past-his-due-date 9 lbs. baby because he aspirated some meconium when he was being born. When Grandma and Grandpa went to look in on him in the NICU nursery they had no doubt which baby was theirs. It went tiny baby, tiny baby, tiny baby, ANDREW.

The kids are determined to never let him live it down.

"You weren't even there!" Rachel said. 

"Oh, I think I was," Phoebe said. 

And who knows?

We finally finished reading D&C 76 this evening. It took us about the entire month of June (we worked on memorizing passages a lot this month). Andrew helped Phoebe read verses 82 through 84:

82 These are they who received not the gospel of Christ, neither the testimony of Jesus.

83 These are they who deny not the Holy Spirit.

84 These are they who are thrust down to hell.

When she read verse 84 she put such dramatic emphasis on being "thrust down to hell" that we all started laughing again. And Andrew—who is incorrigible—thought it would be funny to have her start at verse 103 again:

103 These are they who are liars, and sorcerers, and adulterers, and whoremongers, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.

For some reason when she after she said, "whoremongers," she tacked on, "like mom!" 

(Rachel was filming because she was hoping Phoebe would do something ridiculous like this...and Phoebe did not disappoint. She rarely does...the crazy kid!)
