Swim meet

We spent 9 hours at the pool today...which was...a lot. But we had another great meet tonight!

I don't have all the results from the kids' races, but they did well overall! Phoebe was exhausted from a few early mornings in a row, including this morning when she had to come to swim practice in the morning (because Andrew was in charge of the family history portion of Youth Conference, so no one was around to stay home with her). She fell asleep on the way to the swim meet with:

Usually Andrew and Phoebe leave the meet early with Alexander, but he "swam up" with the 9–10 relays, so his final race was 76, rather than 46, like it usually is. So he stayed with us when Daddy left to put Phoebe to bed.

His relays ended up being hilarious!

Somehow the lanes got all mixed up so they had to stop the relays midway through so we could fix them. The kids on our team started shouting, "There's a shark in our lane! There's a shark in our lane!"

(We were swimming against The Sharks today).

And, indeed, somehow the kids in the shallow end of one lane were Sharks while the kids at the deep end of that lane were Rapid Barracudas. It was all...very confusing...but we eventually got things sorted out and the kids swam a good race.

Zoë's relay ended up being a bit of a mess as well. They had four swimmers lined up...but then one of the swimmers disappeared mid-race (she went back to the bull pen for some reason). So Zoë swam, and then her friend Eva swam, and then...the coach eventually told the last girl to just go...even though the third swimmer never swam her leg. They got disqualified, obviously, which was disappointing...

...but otherwise Zoë swam a great meet!

Both she and Benjamin swam their first IM races. Alexander remembered to touch the wall. They got a lot of personal bests, and even a few "place" ribbons. So it was a pretty good evening!
