Swimmer of the week and pool drain discoveries

The kids were worried about what Fun Friday would look like after our cancelled swim meet last night. No ribbons! No speed breaker splash-the-coach privileges! Would they even give out "swimmer of the week" awards?

Yes, they do! Because look who's the swimmer of the week—it's Alex! He was selected because he's always willing to help set up and take down lane lines.

We were actually a few minutes late getting to Fun Friday and they were just calling out Alexander's name when we arrived—so good timing! Here's Phoebe posing next to Alexander (she can't wait to be a rapid barracuda, herself):

After swimming at the Fun Friday pool, we headed over to our pool to do a little more swimming. It was a good day for pool drain discoveries!

The kids found an Eastern Musk Turtle (this find was particularly exciting)...

They also found three eastern narrow-mouthed toads (the same species as Marshmallow)...and one marbled salamander!

The kids released them into the creek by the tennis courts, where they'll hopefully live out better lives than they would have in the pool drain.

And here's Zoë with her ladybug friend (who really seemed to like her bathing suit):

We did some swimming at the pool as well, but not until after all the animals had been rescued and re-homed in the woods.
