The other day Phoebe wanted to ask if she could play Minecraft.
We use acronyms for everything in our house—to talk about what shows we want to watch (for example, DW means Doctor Who), to talk about our Favourite Part of the Day (FPOD), to announce that it's leftover night (YOYO—you're on your own). If something isn't an acronym, we make it an acronym just for fun.
So in order to ask if she could play Minecraft, Phoebe put together the letters "MC" on the fridge and pulled Andrew over to ask if she could "play MC."
Only she used a خ instead of a C because that's what she spotted first and...it really is pretty close.
Mخ = Minekhraft
Alexander wanted to know if the خ was uppercase like the M, so we explained that Arabic doesn't have uppercase and lowercase letters like we do in English (and many other languages). Arabic doesn't use capitalization for anything (because, again, they don't have capital letters).
And I didn't think about this while I was writing about how Phoebe says "bebove" instead of "above," but she also knows about upper- and lowercase letters...only she calls them lowercase and "highercase."
Same idea, I suppose.
