IPM: Interactive Prayer Model

On Saturday night (when we remembered to gather the entire family for scriptures and prayer), Rachel said the prayer.

She asked that we could be kept safe through the storm and Phoebe, who has been a fan of interactive prayer models (rather than sitting still and listening, and then saying "amen") jumped up and, expressively tracing jagged thunderbolts in the air with her arms, said, "YEAH! TEEP US SAFE FROM AAAAAAAALL THE HURTATOES!"

It was rather funny.

This time she apparently was making an agglomeration of hurricane + tornado + potatoes, as far as I can figure (last time it was hurricane + tornado + volcanoes).

A few nights ago Alexander was saying the prayer and he said, "And please bless Phoebe to not wake me up if she decides to get into my bed in the middle of the night..."

And she jumped up and announced, "OTAY! I WON'T! I will just climb in quietly beside you. Is that better?"

And he was like, "Yeah, that is."

And then he kept praying.

So, yeah.

Prayer has become rather interactive at our house.

To be fair, she's been much chiller about it not being her turn to say the prayer since she's discovered that she can simply interject whenever she wants (even if such interjections lie outside the cultural scope of our home and religion).

Whenever anyone other than Phoebe was asked to offer a prayer, she used to always moan, "Aw, why not me?" And I'm just realizing that we haven't heard that in a while. Apparently because she's decided she can add in her two cents at will.
