Doha Departure Day

The day began with doughnuts.

And then we made the kids clean the bathrooms and throw out everything we hadn't yet thrown out and gather up 100% of everything else that was left in the house.

We also moved our bed into the garage for 11:00 pick up and put out a few things for the Buy Nothing Group (folding table, chairs, pots and pans).

Altogether we have 24 suitcases: 18 checked bags. 6 carry-ons. Plus a backpack for everyone.

The checked bags total 960 lb (approximately 53 lb each). I'm tired just thinking about getting them to the check out counter (my sister Kelli suggested we try curbside check-in, which...probably would have been wonderful...but isn't typically available for international carriers, so too bad for us). 

If our pioneer ancestors could load up a handcart (with several hundred pounds, sometimes up to 500 lb) or a covered wagon (typically carrying ~2500 lb) and make their way across the plains, surely we can make it through the airport with a mere ~1000 lb in high-tech wheeled suitcases.

We're ready for this!
