Goodbye to the Beach Pictures

We have a tradition of taking a family picture at the end of every beach trip. It began 10 years ago when we first took our kids to Wrightsville Beach in NC (though I'm sure that (a) there is a family picture of us at the beach from before then and (b) that we've missed snagging a few family pictures since then). It would take me too long to hunt all of them up right now (and my list of things to do today is already a mile long), but here's a link to that fateful trip in 2013 (the one that started it all):

Here's 2014:

I can't find our family pictures from 2015 on the blog (maybe they're just sitting on Andrew's computer), but that year we actually took "formal" family pictures at the beach and used them for our Christmas newsletter. I'm sure you get the idea.

Here are some more recent years...

Which brings us to this year when—for the first time ever!—we had Grandpa take the pictures rather than using the self-timer:

The first day at the beach was rather warm, but the rest of our beach days were...temperate...if not chilly. So that's why some of us are wrapped up in towels. I was surprised by how not-warm it was, actually!

And I can never decide which picture is the best because we can never all seem to look at the camera at the same time, so I'll put several up.

And here are the kids with Grandpa:

Phoebe has been a little momma's girl lately, so she was not happy about being handed off to Rachel (she probably would have died if we handed her to anyone else, though she's also pointing to this picture right now saying, "Grandpa! Grandpa! Grandpa!" so it's not like she doesn't like him...she just wants to stay with Mommy, thankyouverymuch).

I hid behind Andrew and jumped out yelling, "Peek-a-boo!" and that earned us a couple of smiles.

"Where'd Mom go? I'm a little worried..."

"Oh! There she is! Hooray!"

To quote Aunt Nicki, "A fun time was had by all!" Most definitely.

Until next time, Ocean!

  1. We had a rather-chilly Memorial Day weekend/holiday. Some coastal low socked us in with clouds and rain chances for, like, four or five days. It wasn't a soaking rain...just cool, misty, sometimes raining, gray. I can't remember when you took your trip, but maybe that coastal low hung out some in Florida and that's why it wasn't as hot as you expected.
