Zoë drew a picture of a runner the other day, which she decided was me. I am wearing gloves because she messed up on the hands. But I think it turned out pretty great!
Phoebe decided that she needed to draw a picture of me running as well.
By 41–50 months old (Phoebe is 39 months old, for the record—why are we measuring age like this?!) toddlers should be able to "draw a person with two to four body parts."
With that in mind, Phoebe's drawing is moste impressive.
This particular image has two runners on the page—me and her. She is on the left, I am on the right.
If we pay attention to me (please do!), we can see that I have a body, a head with eyes, two arms, and two legs. That is already so many (8) body parts...but I'm not done yet.
You can see I have a scribbled-on top and some sort of bottoms to my outfit as well.
And then right in the middle of my body is a perfect little circle.
"What's that?" I asked Phoebe.
"That's your belly button," she said proudly.
I had to chuckle a little bit because my belly button hasn't been seen since...I don't even know when. Here's a glamorous shot of my proto-belly button (which was close to the last time it ever saw the light of day):
At any rate, that makes for 9 body parts in one picture.

In other news, we ordered some left-handed scissors for Phoebe, who so desperately would like to learn how to cut things (but who has been struggling to use the right-handed scissors).
She was helping Andrew use the drill the other day—to her sheer delight...and terror—and when I came downstairs to check on them he had her demonstrate her drill skills to me.
He put her right hand on the drill and instructed her to press the trigger. It coughed and sputtered a bit.
"Now use your left hand," he said.
So she switched hands, pressed the trigger, and zzzzzzzzzip, zzzzzzip, zzzzzzip! That thing sprang into action.
"It's almost comical how dominant her left-hand is," Andrew noted.
And like, why...is...handedness...a thing?
So that makes her drawing even more impressive. I'm not sure people drawn with my left hand would turn out so well!
