J'ai voté!

I'll admit I was a little worried when I didn't get a confirmation email...

I got one email from Elections Canada saying:

Your application to vote by mail has been received.

An Elections Canada representative will contact you if your application is incomplete or cannot be approved.

If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email and a special ballot voting kit will be sent to the mailing address provided on your application.

I didn't get a second email. But today when I opened up the mailbox, my ballot was there!

My hair is wild...but my ballot was there! So I voted. It was easy, very straightforward!

The ballot had one question.

I answered that question, put my ballot in its special "inner envelope A," put that envelope into the "outer envelope B" and signed the affidavit, and then put that envelope into the "return envelope C," which I will pop into the mailbox first thing in the morning.

Felt a little Yzmaic, but...you can't argue with brilliance, can you?

I mean, man, the first time we voted from abroad (in 2008) our precinct in Utah was like, "Uhhh...just email us the name of who you want to be president, I guess..." This process felt way more official than that!

Anyway, I'm happy to have gotten to vote! I was way more excited to participate in this election than I have been for any American elections in recent history, so that was a nice feeling.
