Me: It's math hour. And I need to finish writing a paper. You guys need to be focused on your work right now so I can focus on mine.
Also me: I wonder if we can fashion a maypole out of items we have in our house...
Math hour is still going. I would say "going strong" but that might be overly optimistic.
But also we have a functional maypole!
I'm hoping to use it in primary on Sunday. We'll practice doing some dances tonight for FHE. We've gotten pretty good at your basic over-under-over-under weave already. The kids found undoing the weave was actually easier than doing it because they could tell for certain whether they needed to be going under or over (which is harder to see when you're winding up than when you're unwinding).

We grabbed a pole from the garage, cut six holes in a sour cream lid, stapled the lid to the pole, slipped six ribbon wands through the holes, and zip-tied them to the pole. The pole is currently sitting in a can with weights around it. That's been fine for in-house purposes but I think I'll need a sturdier solution for primary because sometimes things get a little more rambunctious there than they do at home...
Very cool!
