In the winter when it's especially chilly, you can often find the cat sitting under the IKEA workbench on one of the only two heater vents situated on the floor in our house. Here she is earlier in the month when we were experiencing all our little ice storms:
In the winter when it's especially chilly, it's not uncommon to find our children doing their best to warm their feet on the heater as well!
When I was growing up, I remember most of the heating registers being on the floor (at least on the main level—in the basement they were on the ceiling) and I would sit directly on the vent with my arms and legs pulled inside my shirt. I'd rest my chin on my knees...and would sometimes sneak my fingers out the bottom of my shirt so that I could hold a book open.
It was the only way to live!
Most of our vents are either on the walls or ceilings here so for better or worse this is as good as it gets around here.
