Swimming Awards Banquet

This afternoon we got to go to Benjamin's swimming awards banquet. He's had a really great season and has improved so much, so it really was no surprise when he was called up as the most improved swimmer on the silver team.

"And while he's up here, Ben's also our practice champ. Ben is always there, ready to work hard—even asking for more work!" Coach Harrison told everyone.

He's on task, he's cheerful, he never complains, he helps others stay on task...he's just great!

He looked shocked that he was chosen for two awards, but his friends were less surprised.

When they heard the "practice champ" award being announced for the gold team, his friends on the silver team leaned over to him and said, "That'll be you!"

And they were right!

We had pizza for dinner and cake for dessert—a cake that was so very blue! Everyone was walking around with blue lips!

Here's a picture of all the awards he got this season: 11 first place ribbons, 6 second place ribbons, 2 third place ribbons, and 3 fourth place ribbons. His "Most Improved Award" says Benjamin "achieved 14 time drops and a 10% improvement" over the course of the season and his "Practice Champ Award" says "worked consistently hard in practice and consistently came to practice."

We're proud of all the hard work he's put into his swimming this year (he recently joined the 100-mile challenge last week and is hoping to complete that over the summer—I've no doubt he will).

He's got one more month of conditioning with the Fowler Fins and then it will be back to the Rapid Barracudas for summer swim team!
