Have you ever looked at your syllabus to see what your weekly readings were only to realize that—being the brilliant being you are—you read ahead in the syllabus over spring break?
You probably did this mostly because those readings seemed useful for the big project you have due on Friday and since you're supposed to reference readings from the course in your project it made sense to read these particular articles a little early. But that doesn't really matter because you don't have any readings immanently due so you could breathe a little easier this afternoon.
Thank you, past self.
Instead you got to enjoy the spring flowers a little bit (while doing some readings for next week and thinking about your project that is due on Friday, which you really should finish (but for real though)).
We were the only ones who showed up for gardening club today, which was a bit of a disappointment, I think. But the kids are all playing outside with neighbours now, so they're doing okay. And they were all very happy that the cherry tree is finally blooming.
For dinner I dug around in the freezer until I found something that looked tempting. I'm trying to be mindful about using what's buried in the depth of our chest freezer (a whole lot of cranberries, as it turns out, and some frozen strawberries). I found a freezer bag full of Japanese curry that we made when Amanda was here visiting us...in January 2024...so it was definitely time to use that meal up.
I reheated it and it didn't even taste at all freezer burned, so that was lovely.
Thank you, past Amanda!
Present Amanda is safely in Arizona with her children after being a little less safe in Bahrain last month.
She told me about their hunch about moving to Bahrain when she was visiting us...in January 2024. And then she did move to Bahrain. And she was so sweet to do a Zoom call with my kids and show us her house and talk about where she lives earlier this school year. And now she's back in the states.
And I'm finally eating her leftover curry.
(Which she learned to love when she and Blake were stationed in Japan).
It's wild...the way time works...
Anyway, here's Phoebe enjoying some rainbow time and counting all the flowers she pillaged off shrubberies this afternoon...
Happy spring!

I love the spring flowers and flowering trees! I hate no one else showed up for gardening club. You'll have to let us know what y'all plant.
ReplyDeleteGlad your friend is safe. I'd forgotten (or didn't know) she had been in Bahrain.
