Dandelions and hen-chicken

Today we went on a bit of a foraging walk for Gary's lunch. Gary is a bearded dragon, just to clarify. A bearded dragon who only sometimes likes to eat dandelions. Phoebe wishes he would eat dandelions a lot more often than he does. He can be a pretty picky eater.

We try to convince Phoebe to leave some dandelions for the bunnies—she wants to pick them all!

At least she does her part to replant...I guess...

Here she is blowing on her wish...

And here she is verifying that she's successfully identified "hen-chicken":

"Yes, that's henbit," I told her.

Phoebe was getting rather confident about grabbing plants to ask what they were and I kept reminding her to ask first and grab second because...we live in the south and you never know when poison ivy's going to pop out and get'cha!

The poor thing is in a bit of a defiant stage at the moment, unfortunately. So she wasn't listening very well.

She sure learned her lesson when she grabbed at a bramble to ask whether it would be okay for Gary to eat. She sliced one of her fingers and was pretty upset about it. But she survived.
