Pelican's in Georgia

It has been years since we've been to Pelican's!

We went on a family adventure on Thursday (which I will write about eventually) and there was a Pelican's right across the street! Who knew?

Now, we love our Durham location—their rainbow benches are unparalleled—but the fun atmosphere was still very much a part of the Pelican's experience out in Roswell. They had yard games set up for everyone to enjoy (and enjoy we did).

Their prices have about doubled in price (compared to when we were living in Durham), but we rationalized that our family could use a little outing at Pelican's to celebrate our final week with Rachel living at home.

Here she is in 2013, a teensy little first-grader (with a BYU shirt on for foreshadowing):

And here she is in 2025, read to take on the world:

She's grown up a lot in the intervening years...but some things never change—she still likes sour cherry:

You can read about our past Pelican's visits here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here...everywhere, apparently. We went an absurd number of times. It was one of our favourite treat locations when we lived in Durham (perhaps our only treat location) and our addiction was fueled by gifts of "Pelican Bucks" from Grandma (they could only be spent at Pelican's so we'd have to go—and those Pelican Bucks would stretch twice as far...back in our glory days at Pelican's).

Relative distance + Increased(Pricing + Family Size) = we probably won't get to Pelican's quite so often, even now that we know where one is. But a visit sure made for a fun afternoon!

Here are Benjamin and Zoë playing Connect Four while waiting for our order:

Here's Alexander and Zoë playing Tic-Tac-Toe under Benjamin's watchful eyes:

Here's Phoebe enjoying a teeter-totter:

Here are the kids getting their order from the pick-up window:

While we were waiting, Benjamin announced, "This building used to be a house!"

Rachel rolled her eyes and said, "Suddenly, he's a detective."

And that's how fights begin.

Here are the kids with their snowcones:

Alexander got sour tsunami (I think) with some other flavour. It dyed his tongue quite blue:

Here's Miriam sticking out her green tongue (she's not being coy—she just is a little bit tongue-tied and that's literally as far as she can stick out her tongue (no doctor or dentist we've seen has been very concerned about it so...it remains tied...unlike my other tongue-tied kid (Benjamin) who had to have his lingual frenulum cut as a baby so that he could latch to eat (though he still can't stick his tongue out very far)):

Here's Zoë showing off her pink tongue while Phoebe finished up the dregs of her "pretty princess" snowcone (a very tempting flavour for girls her age):

After we finished up our snowcones we stayed to play for a little while. Here's Phoebe at the Connect Four station:

Zoë had looked at some pictures from Pelican's visits past on Andrew's phone while we waited for our order and she wanted to take a picture of herself playing with Connect Four to compare to this one from 2016:

She has grown quite a bit since then:

Benjamin was all about Corn Hole:

He challenged everybody. And he usually won, too, because he has impeccable aim.

Here's Rachel and Miriam playing Tic-Tac-Toe:

And here's Zoë and Phoebe on the teeter-totter:

And for whatever reason Phoebe has recently begun sucking on her fingers a lot recently. I don't know why because I'm pretty sure she has all her teeth in that she needs to have in at the moment (that is, I don't think she could possibly be teething), but here she is with her fingers in her mouth:

And here's everybody (but me) by the Pelican's sign to mark the occasion:
