Thankful Tree 2011

Would you believe I actually took a picture of our Thankful tree on Thanksgiving, fully intending to take it down? Would you believe that I'm only getting around to taking it down today?

I made a list of everything we were thankful for. We ended up being thankful for 99 different things, though some of the leaves listed more than one thing and we were accidentally thankful for some of the same things twice so we ended up only being thankful for 96 unique things.

Here's our list (done in all lowercase letters because I stuck the leaves to one hand and typed with the other):
  • air conditioning
  • airplanes
  • ancestors
  • andrew
  • animals

A lot of things on our list are staples but now that the girls are really participating in being thankful we're starting to get a lot of interesting things. Like "my thumb," courtesy of Miriam who really, truly is grateful for her thumb, and "the letter R," thought up by Rachel who really, truly is grateful for the letter R. Sometimes being grateful for the simple things is important and I'm glad I have children to teach me that.
