First Day of Spring

Today was the first day of spring. I had seen someone post on Facebook about these cardboard flower vases for children to collect wildflowers so decided to try them out today since my children are always collecting wildflowers. As suspected, they did enjoy it.

Little purple pansies have popped up all over everyone's lawns, along with a smattering of dandelions. The children are pretty good at recognizing wildflowers (aka: weeds), though Benjamin did sneak a pink blossom off someone's tree.

Zoƫ started pretending to eat her flowers for some reason:

Alexander noticed her and said, "Oh! We are doing surprised faces?"

And then he started doing surprised faces as well:

Here's Alexander showing off his handiwork (which Rachel and Miriam helped him with quite a bit):

And here they are at home showing off their vases after we came across a lovely patch of dandelions:

Here's when Alexander remembered they'd been doing surprised faces:

  1. When I saw these pictures on FB without the commentary, I imagined that Alexander was so delighted with his art that he could not stop looking at it--his is tipped towards him in many of the pictures. Looks like they all had a great time with this art project!
