Grumpy dinner

Like I mentioned, we've all been a little under the weather over here. Mostly Benjamin and Zoë have been acting normal (despite high temperatures and coughing fits), though they've each had a sluggish day. They've both been so terribly grumpy though!

Two days this week I have sent Benjamin to his room to calm down, only to find him fast asleep in his bed (which is basically unheard of for him). One day Zoë was so grumpy that the only thing I could do was hide out in my bedroom with her. She kept screaming at everyone else.

When dinner time rolled around, Rachel offered to make something for herself and her poor, starving siblings. Our conversation went something like this...

Rachel: Hey, Mom...
Zoë: MOP!
Me: Yes, Rachel.
Zoë: MOP!
Rachel: Do you want me...
Zoë: AHHHHH! MOP!
Rachel: ...to make...
Zoë: ACHA! MOP IT! MOOOOOOOP!
Rachel: ...some dinner?
Me: That would be...
Zoë: NOOOOOO! MOP!
Me: ...great.
Zoë: AHHHHH!
Rachel: What should I...
Zoë: ACHAAAAAAA!
Me: There are...
Zoë: AHHHHH!
Me: ...corn dogs...
Zoë: NO! MOP! MOP! MOP!
Me: ...in the freezer...
Zoë: NOOOOOO!
Rachel: How do...
Zoë: AHHHHHHH! NOOOO!
Me: Follow the directions.
Zoë: ACHA! GO! NO! MOP! AAHHHH!

I think she had a headache (I don't think her screaming helped that) and I know she had a sore throat (I'm sure her screaming didn't help that either) and I completely understand feeling miserable but, oh, man! She was so difficult that day! She was so, so grumpy. She kept lashing out at the kids. The only thing she wanted to do in the whole entire world was snuggle momma in absolute solitude.

I'm not sure what the point of this story is. Perhaps it's that sometimes I feed my children (vile) vegetable soup from scratch and other times I feed them (still arguably vile) frozen corn dogs.

And I'm pretty sure they're going to be fine.
