Whatever shall I do?

I washed the sheets yesterday and the load wasn't very full so I threw in the rest of the whites with them. I even got them put in the dryer, which was remarkable because shots make Rachel run a fever which makes her an official Mommy's Girl.

Usually she's just a "mommy's girl," and will entertain herself for a few minutes at a time, which means I have half a hope of getting something done. When she doesn't feel good though she turns into Mommy's Girl (with a capital MG!) and becomes a somewhat permanent growth on my hip.

So I didn't get the laundry out of the dryer to fold it. Before we could go to bed last night we had to make our bed. I took the sheets out and handed them to Andrew, then I took his Sunday shirt out and hung it up so that it wouldn't get wrinkly. It was late so I decided that the rest of the clothes could wait until the next day. Who cares if a few pairs of socks or undergarments are a little wrinkly? Certainly not me.

Andrew began making the bed and I finished getting ready for bed. While I was brushing my teeth he walked into our laundry room, which happens to be connected to our bathroom, with an article of clothing. He opened the closet door that hides the washing machine, opened the dryer, tossed the vesture in there, then shut the doors and grabbed his toothbrush.

"What did you do that for?" I asked.

"Well, there was a piece of clothes in the sheets that I found while I was making the bed, so I threw it on the floor...but then I realized that if I left it on the floor I would put it in the dirty clothes basket...so since it's clean I had to do something else with it. I figured that putting it in the dryer with the rest of the clothes was the best thing to do."

"Really?" I asked amazed at his thought process, "You couldn't have just folded it and put it away?"

Andrew looked a little sheepish. He honestly hadn't thought of that as a solution. Guys are just different than girls, I guess.

  2. Did I mention just today that Matt and Andrew are a lot alike. Yesterday the play mat thing that Amy plays with was in a place Matt didn't want it. (I hadn't put it away because it belongs in the nursery, and when I was cleaning up Amy was sleeping. I didn't want to disturb her.) So he just threw it down the hall. I asked why he couldn't just put it away. He said he didn't know where it went. I told him. Then he just threw in the nursery (this time just to tease me). So I threw a pretend tantrum which he didn't even notice so what's the point. Yeah, it often doesn't occur to him that if he is moving something he could just put it away.

  3. That is a funny story! I'm sure he was just trying to be helpful. Jason is washing dishes right now but mainly just because he wants to listen to a basketball game and figures why not look helpful as well.

  4. Oh, I'm sure his intentions were good....it's just funny how he decided he should carry out his intentions. :) Especially since he was standing less than 2 feet away from the dresser when he found the item and had to walk all the way to the dryer to put it in there when he could have just turned around.

    He's so funny! :)
