NaNo WriMo

Andrew has challenged me to write a novel this month. I have a few ideas for books kicking around in my head, but since I prefer to write about "real life" and my life hasn't been that long yet, I'm still gathering information. So instead I just started writing. I'm hoping that, since this novel will be purely fictional, I can get some of my true feelings about things in my life out in the book.

Okay, so that didn't make much sense. The characters in the book will be all fictional and the storyline so far is completely fictional but I'm hoping to put some real life things ni the book, too--get some of my thoughts and feelings out there. You won't know what's a real thought and what's a made up idea because they will all be mushed together.

I need to get a bad novel written before I can write a good one, anyway...so if you want to read my poorly written novel, go to my novel blog. Next year I hope to have a real idea by the time November rolls around.

You should write a novel, too! After all, it is National Novel Writing Month. The idea is just to write 50,000 words in the month of November, all in one book. It's all about quantity, not quality. You save the revising for December.

It's a significant challenge., but I think it will be fun.

  1. I'm glad there are people who think this sounds like fun. I do not. But then again, you write more blog posts than anyone I know. It's quite a bit of effort to keep up with you on the reading end, so I don't know how you keep up with yourself on the writing end!

    You're amazing. :)

  2. okay... I accept your challenge... is it cheating that I've already started...? Because I look at this as a kick in the butt to get it going again...!

  3. Well, I think that anyone who feels compelled to write, who can't get through the day without writing, is a born writer, so I am glad to hear about the novels underway. Only this isn't really Josie...but speaking of Josie, she has a 3.94 GPA and got some outstanding test results...she says she has a lot to think about, with this new vision of herself as a "smart person." Thanks for all your tutoring, Nancy.

  4. Abra--that is kind of cheating, but I will let it slide--I don't know what the official rules are off the top of my head, but they seem pretty relaxed, so I say go for it!

And, Josie, WAY TO GO! You can do amazing things! Learning is a gift.

3.94--I daresay that's up with Andrew. Little Miss Smarty Pants :)

  10. So, Heidi--what did your grandparents do before they got married? I guess I will have to wait for the book to find out!
